Our client is a family owned and independent European toy company, founded in 1972, with 550 employees and with own production and warehouse facilities. Integrated development department of 60 people. Export to 50 countries, with 9  commercial subsidiaries across Europe , 1 branch  in Hong Kong, and a network of local distributors across the world. Wide portfolio of categories and items for all ages from 0 to 99.


It´s DNA is developing items with educational content. The German subsidiary - founded in 1992 - is well established and products are distributed in all major channels and retail companies. The new MD will find an efficient Sales & Marketing Team of 8 employees and 3 multicards agents.

What our client expects

  • Your starting date: Between 1.10.2019 and 1.1.2020.
  • You will be responsible for the markets Germany & Austria.
  • You will be leading and running the daily business related to sales and marketing together with the whole team, in coordination with mother company’s guidelines.
  • You will be managing, motivating and monitoring the performances of all the employees of the German subsidiary with the support of central European HR office.
  • You will be developing and executing the business on the base of medium term strategic planning.
  • You will be monitoring and reporting the business performances with detailed analysis to mother company on regular base.
  • You will have budget responsibility (sales, margins, costs, operating profit).
  • You will do product forcasts and reguklar updates.
  • You will be planning and managing the communication investments with the assistance of central marketing office.
  • You will be supporting the European product development with local perspectives and local knowledge.
  • You will search and evaluate local trends and local license opportunities, maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential licensors in your market.

Your skills

  • A degree in economics or management or equivalent knowledge based on working experience.
  • Deep knowledge and solid background of the German toy market and of the key customers, with special focus on sales and marketing aspects. 
  • Experience of at least 3 years in leading and managing a German subsidiary of an International toy company or of a German toy company.
  • Capability of managing the process of budgeting, reporting and forecasting in coordination with the mother company.
  • Knowledge of working on targets and commitments, of monitoring the performance and of analyzing results.
  • Experience in developing a medium term strategic plan in cooperation with the mother company and the ability to deliver coherent results.     
  • Solid experience in assessing and managing a communication budget, either traditional or digital media.  
  • A thorough understanding of the German licensing market for toys and toy related products. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: Leadership, team building and motivational ability.
  • Good networking skills and an existing solid network in the German and Austrian market.
  • Will an availability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Fluent in German (native speaker level), English and ideally Italian.
  • Thorough knowledge of the usual office software, like Word, Excel or Power Point.
